PD in the PUB 2010

SURVIVAL KIT FOR NEW TEACHERS

Free for student and teacher members in their first few years.
Over many years of teaching, experienced educators develop the skills and knowledge needed to engage students even in
the most challenging situations.
In this workshop, Glen Pearsall takes teachers new to the profession through a number of great activities that they can
use in either the primary or secondary classroom.
These are really practical and educationally valuable activities that participants can turn to when they need to get a
group of students on task or when the time is right to mix things up.
It can take years to learn this stuff, or you can come to PD in the Pub, have a drink on us and walk away with a bunch
of new skills and fun ideas.

About the presenter
Glen Pearsall is a classroom teacher at
Eltham High School and a board member
of the Victorian Curriculum Assessment
Authority.
Glen has worked widely with teachers — helping
them improve their classroom management through a
practical exploration of what goes on in the classroom
and through working with groups on strategies to
find curriculum solutions to even the most challenging
behavioural issues.
Glen has a particular interest in supporting graduate
teachers and has worked as a research fellow and
seminar leader at the Youth Research Centre, University
of Melbourne.

Wodonga CRT Support March Meeting

I would just like to thank all involved in the first CRT meeting for the year. I am hoping those who attended found it informative. Those who did, we talk about PD for CRTs in the area, resources online that are helpful for our bag of tricks and general CRT things. We had some new CRTs join us and regulars come for a catch up.

A big thankyou to Anne for setting up the venue and being a great host at St. Monica's Primary School. The use of the interactive whiteboard in the library was fabulous.

Sorry there aren't any minutes for this meeting. It was very relaxed and informal. Lots of chatting and mixing.

Developmental Curriculum - Baranduda P.S.

I worked for Baranduda P.S last fortnight and in their prep rooms they have taken a new approach to literacy. Melbourne University has been researching Developmental Curriculum in the early years in the classroom.
Kathy Walker is the author of this new and exciting way of prep children to explore their environment as well as learn new letters and sounds. The Developmental Curriculum (as far as I understand) is to help ease the transition between pre-school and school.
Well don't take my work for it. Baranduda P.S are holding an informaiton session for parents (and anyone else interested) on Wednesday 17th March at 6pm.

ADHD WORKSHOP ALBURY

Take a journey to understand the world of the child with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, along with why and how their world effects their environment and all those around.
Discover the keys necessary to help change their environment, decrease anger and aggression; reduce stress and anxiety; provide tools for the child's future; while giving recognition and credit to their abundant positive qualities.

These workshop presentations have been designed to offer management keys to parents, teachers, early childhood staff, in fact, any one who wants to understand and better manage the world of ADHD.

Venue: The Albury Club 519 Kiewa St, Albury
