A one day course for AEU Representatives & Active Members

The aim of this course is to develop active well informed sub-branches and networks. AEU members will leave with the knowledge, skills and confidence to effectively deal with local issues and participate in AEU campaigns.

 Skills and knowledge in order to effectively deal with local issues
 An understanding of the ES & Teacher Agreements
 Contract teaching
 An effective consultation process
 An effective sub-branch

When seeking approval to attend, please advise your principal that the AEU will meet the cost of staff replacement - actual cost up to a maximum of $266 per day for teachers, and $190 per day for ES.

We know that staff replacement can be difficult in Wodonga. If this is an issue at your school please notify us.

The AEU Vic Branch will be providing the opportunity for teacher
and ES members to participate in specialist training activities in the
Wodonga Region. A team of elected officials and organisers will be
based in your area for the three days.

The following session is free for AEU members and we encourage
others to join on the night and come along. Certificates of participation
will be provided for all sessions to registered participants.

Application and Interviews
This is a practical session which will explain how Recruitment
Online works by using the actual website. We will also take participants
through the type of information that should be included
in job applications and hints on how to write them as well as
interview strategies.
Drinks and nibbles will be provided at the end of this session.

The following session is free for all teachers and
ES staff. We encourage all members and non
members to attend. Certificates of participation
will be provided for all sessions to registered
participants.

Legal Liability and Duty of Care
This session will examine the current trends and issues in school
litigation. We will analyse ES and teacher’s duty of care responsibilities,
negligence, the reasonable care test, the reasonable
teacher test and professional indemnity. The focus of the session
will be to ensure that teachers and ES staff know about their basic
rights and responsibilities and are aware of the main issues
to be concerned about at school. These sessions reinforce the
absolute importance of AEU membership – “Insure your Career”.

TAFE fee structure and the impact this will have on our TAFE
